Orientation Types

We have a range of orientation sessions to best meet the needs of our students. Everyone is required to take the online orientation, and depending on your situation you may go to an in-person orientation, too.

To get started, login to MyWCC to:

  • Find out which orientation(s) you need to attend.
  • Review and complete My Checklist.

Connect Session (orientation)

Virtual Connect Sessions are facilitated by a Success Coach and Student Ambassador, and will guide new students through everything you will need to know about being a successful WCC student. Sessions take approximately 45 minutes in an online format requiring a laptop/phone, webcam/camera, and microphone. Get more information and attend a Connect Session.

New Student Orientation and Advising Session

Select this option to complete both the Connect Session and Meet with an Advisor portion of your application checklist. In this virtual session, you will learn more about your degree requirements, understanding your placement levels, and your next steps in selecting and registering for classes. You will also learn about the support available to you through your WCC Success Team, and have your questions answered from an Academic Advisor, Success Coach, and Student Ambassador. You will also be able to meet with an advisor individually in a Zoom breakout room. Sessions take approximately 90 minutes. Register for your New Student Orientation and Advising session.

Note: If you are unable to  attend the New Student Orientation and Advising session, you can meet with an advisor during our "Drop-in Advising" time. During our virtual drop-in advising you will be able to meet individually with an advisor who will guide you through your academic requirements. Drop-in advising is conducted in a Zoom video conference and it is highly recommended that you have a computer or tablet with webcam/microphone and a reliable internet connection. You may also call 734-677-5102 to speak with an advisor over the phone. Get more information and attend Drop-in Advising.
