Ilo: Beach Stroll
While out on our walk, we saw writing on the hillside. It seems to be a naturalistic take on our billboards back in the states.

On Ilo: Day 2, several of the others and I got up for a morning stroll near the shoreline. The morning quiet was a relief from the constant noise of last night. Apparently, several members of the group woke up to fireworks at midnight. Ilo apparently celebrated its 45th anniversary by setting off fireworks, but I slept through it like a rock.

We strolled down the street to the waterfront. The pier had old and questionable looking boards. They evoked images in my head of a board breaking and sending me into the ocean below.

Nevertheless, the waterfront was gorgeous, early morning mist hanging over the distant parts of the harbor. Meanwhile, fishermen rowed back and forth between their boats moored in the water and the docks. Sea birds called to each other while the waves rolled against the shoreline.

We saw sea lions lying out on the buoys further into the ocean. One of them swam near the fishing boats for a few moments before it ducked out of sight. Strolling further down the beach, we walked upon a stone pier where a sea otter surprised us with its appearance.

On the way back a big, terrifying-looking dog starts trotting alongside of us.
